Many Fulfilling Volunteer Opportunities
Homework Helper: Each center has a supervised homework time during the afternoon on school days. This is a time for children to work on their homework. It is about 30-45 minutes in length. At this time volunteers assist and supervise the students. ECC volunteers do not "correct" homework.
Indoor Activity: Children have an opportunity to do an indoor activity during their daily schedule at Extended Child Care. Volunteers can help create an art project, supervise a game, or supervise other planned age-appropriate activities.
Outdoor Activity: Children have opportunities throughout the after-school day to do different activities outside. Volunteers help delegate and implement various games, sports, and team building activities.
Classroom Assistant: Volunteers can assist teachers with maintaining the facility and help prepare meals and snacks. They can also help keep the child care facilities, both inside and outside, and all equipment, materials, and supplies, clean, safe, and well maintained at all times.
Presenters: Presenters introduce and involve the students in interesting topics that they are passionate about. Presenters can share their careers, community resources, and interests with the students.
Office Assistance: Operating ten sites requires quite a bit of administrative work in our main office. Volunteers can help with clerical projects, both short term and long term.
Board of Directors: The Extended Child Care Board of Directors meets ten times each year to oversee the program. We are currently seeking Board members with marketing, fund development and legal expertise.
Volunteers need to have a negative TB test taken within the last year, complete an application, and submit a Parent Authorization Card if under 18 years old.
